Summary/Objective: The engineering buyer will assist with the development of new and sustaining product engineering projects.
Provide a brief description of the general nature of the position; an overview of why the job exists; and what the job is to accomplish.
- Monitors NR material demand (MRP) and gathering input from engineering, inventory, production, purchasing, suppliers, and sales
- Assists engineering & sales with entry & scheduling of stock replenishment orders for pre-production or customer demand
- Submits & oversees status of supplier purchase orders
- Assists marketing & sales with new product sample & NCOs
- Sets up new NR materials in Item Master
- Provides lead time for customer inquiries
- Monitors all NR Expired material, coordinating with engineers & containment teams
- Responsible for administrative tasks as needed

Required Experience:
- 2+ Years’ Experience in an Engineering Department or as a Production supervisor mfg product.
- Must be a self-starter with strong leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills for tracking multiple projects.
- Proficient is MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience in SGN Systems (preferred, not required): Inventory Suite, Purchasing Suite, MRP, eLab, Vendor Quotes, Shop Floor Control, Order Entry, Order Inquiry, Project Tracking System, ECR/CAD, QP Suite, Material Capacity, PrintView, PDM Vault, EPMS.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to travel to Samtec facilities outside New Albany as needed.
Preferred Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Training required:
- On the job training as appropriate.
